The Summer scone series is officially underway! The goal is to have two new scone recipes up every week. They will mostly be sweet scones, but I do have a few savory flavors coming up as well.
These summer emails will be short and sweet (for the most part). Just a weekly update for the new scones, a throwback to an old post if any were improved, and usually a link to something we have been loving here in our little home.
Pause and ponder
I saw an Instagram reel a few weeks back that was saying that "you have permission to not subscribe to this toxic spiral of always bettering yourself". Or something along those lines, but with the same general idea. Making it seem like pushing yourself to improve is a bad thing.
Ok, I will admit, being obsessed with being better can be overdone and extreme. However, working out and eating better to be healthier when done right is a great thing. Reading books or listening to podcasts on how to be a better mom, wife, friend, ect? Why not?
If we are going to spend time consuming content, be it movies, podcasts, media, social media, books, etc., why not have it be something that is pushing us to be better?
I have had such a strong desire for the last several months to build better rhythms and routines into our daily life so we can get more out of each day. That means I am up before the family, starting my time in the Word, working out for a little bit, and trying to sneak in a few minutes on the blog. Then I am up and have the space to pour into my family all day because I took time to pour into me first thing.
That is what I have been doing to better myself over the last few months and the days I do not get up early? They feel off and like I missed out on something special.
So, I challenge you to ask yourself this week: "What is one small habit I can incorporate into my day that will improve my day for the better?"
I would love to hear what you incorporate into your daily line up!
What is New this week
Now what you really opened this email for: the scones

Toasted coconut, juicy blackberries, creamy coconut glaze... Need I say more?

Touched up and updated an old post from a few years ago! So much valuable information and a great reminder for why we use steel and cast iron here at home!

I have been enjoying an iced matcha latte (homemade of course) a few times a week. I love this brand because it also has moringa which is a supplement that makes my drink even more nourishing. (Code ESSENTIAL10)

I hope you enjoy this week's scone flavors! I have already recipe tested the ones for this upcoming week and they are truly delightful. Keep your eyes open for the next newsletter (should be out on Friday).
Thank you again for clicking links, sharing blog posts, and being a part of the newsletter. It might not seem like much, but it really is such a blessing for our family. Your kindness is never lost on us.
Have a great week enjoying the sunshine and I'll "see" you soon!
